Dezeen Awards 2025 sustainability shortlists announced


Dezeen has announced the sustainability shortlist for this year's Dezeen Awards, which includes projects by Hassell, Squire and Partners and Morrama.
The 30 shortlisted projects, which are in the running to be crowned winners across five different sustainability project categories, are by studios located in 16 different countries including Norway, Indonesia, Canada and India.
Shortlisted projects include a plant-filled "terminal in a garden" in Bengaluru, a "very special and rare" pair of mid-century modern office buildings in London and the world's first industrial aluminium made with 100 per cent post-consumer aluminium.
Finland's largest mass-timber building in Helsinki, structured using around 7,600 cubic metres of spruce and ash and composed of almost 2,500 pieces of cross-laminated timber (CLT) and laminated veneer lumber, is also shortlisted.

Dezeen Awards 2025, in partnership with Bentley, will reveal all shortlisted projects this week. The architecture, interiors and design shortlists were announced earlier this week.
This year's nomination-based Designers of the Year and Bentley Lighthouse Award shortlists will be announced tomorrow and next Monday respectively.
"The sustainability shortlist demonstrates a vast breadth of creativity," said Ben Saltmer, Dezeen Awards judge and head of lifestyle design at Bentley.
"From new biomaterials to large-scale architectural renovations, these projects all grapple with the key issues of our age."
The shortlisted projects were scored by our sustainability jury which includes Johan Ejdemo, Caroline Till and Fernando Laposse.
