Dome-shaped windshield on Podbike’s electric Frikar

Podbike’s electric Frikar houses the riders inside a dome-shaped windshield to protect them from the harsh and cold weather as they cruise. First introduced in 2017, its global launch took place in 2021, having to aim to deliver around the European markets. As of today, the Podbike electric Frikar is available in Norway and Germany. For 2025, the company is pushing to bring the e-bike to more EU countries. The next is Switzerland, with the dealer Elfar all set up for test rides and orders. After that, Belgium and France come next with an expected delivery before summertime.

For a design overview, Podbike’s electric Frikar comes with a wraparound windshield with optional windshield wipers. It fully encloses the rider, so they can safely cruise during wintertime. The team designs it to be aerodynamic, so the air flows around the four-wheeled vehicle smoothly and with little resistance. Because of this, it creates the same amount of drag as a racing bicycle, allowing Podbike’s electric Frikar to speed away efficiently.

Belgium and france delivery before summer of 2025

There’s a pedal on board Podbike’s electric Frikar. If the riders get tired, they can fire up the assist motors, which can allow for a range of 50 to 80 kilometers on a full battery charge. The four-wheeled vehicle also uses a belt drive instead of a chain to reduce the wear and tear and overall maintenance of the e-bike. Specs-wise, Podbike’s electric Frikar has two motors. They can boost the vehicle with electrical assistance up to 25 km/h. It has an automatic braking as well at 50 km/h, which is a safety feature to prevent the e-bike from reaching unsafe speeds on the road.

Since Podbike’s electric Frikar is classified as an e-bike, the riders don’t need a driver’s license or a license plate to operate it. They can also bring the vehicle on bike lanes and the road. Then, its size is 84 centimeters wide, the same as a standard bike trailer. This makes it agile and easy to maneuver. Since it is electric, the engineering team continues to update the e-bike’s system wirelessly using the over-the-air updates. There’s also an app available, so riders can monitor the vehicle’s electronic systems in real time. So far, the vehicle is available in Norway and Germany. Delivery to Switzerland is almost ready, with Belgium and France expecting theirs before summer.
