giorgio armani passes away in milan at age 91

Legendary Italian fashion designer Giorgio Armani has died at the age of 91, his company confirmed on Thursday. The founder of the Armani Group passed away at home in Milan.

‘In this company, we have always felt like part of a family,’ the fashion house and his family stated on Thursday. ‘Today, with deep emotion, we feel the void left by the one who founded and nurtured this family with vision, passion, and dedication.

‘But it is precisely in his spirit that we, the employees and the family members who have always worked alongside Mr. Armani, commit to protecting what he built and to carrying his company forward in his memory, with respect, responsibility, and love.’

A funeral chamber will be open to the public in Milan on Saturday and Sunday, followed by a private ceremony at a later date. The designer had been recovering from illness and was absent from his June runway shows.
