Racetrack and Emblem fabrics by Designtex

Dezeen Showroom: US brand Designtex has found a middle ground between minimalism and maximalism with its Racetrack and Emblem fabrics, which feature mini-checkerboard patterns.

Racetrack and Emblem represent Designtex's attempt to marry the sophistication of minimalism with the vibrancy and dynamism of maximalism.

Emblem features a small-scale check that pairs well with other patterns or solids and is available in a choice of nine colours.

Racetrack incorporates the checkered motif as one half of a thick stripe, which as well as offering contrasting colours also mixes materials by placing plush velvet against a raffia-like yarn texture. It is available in six colours.

"Racetrack and Emblem make me think of sumptuous spaces, delightful hospitality and a love of fine detail," said Designtex design vice-president Catherine Stowell.

"There is so much knowledge imbued into the creation of these textiles; they bring together unique yarns, lush constructions in an array of rich colors," she continued. "They can even be used outdoors."

Both of the fabrics are suitable for indoor and outdoor use.
