Fashion designer Victoria Beckham has today unveiled her debut homeware collection for online platform Westwing, which includes shell-shaped butter dishes and shimmering cutlery.

The Westwing collaboration is the first homeware project by Beckham, who founded her eponymous fashion label in 2008.

"Home is where some of life's most meaningful moments happen, and this collaboration felt like a natural way to explore that world through the same lens of design, craftsmanship and attention to detail that defines everything we do as a brand," she said.

According to Westwing, Beckham looked to the 19th-century Arts and Crafts movement when creating the collection of tableware, textiles and decorative objects characterised by organic forms and minimalist materials.

Among the pieces are stainless-steel butter dishes and salt cellars with a subtle seashell shape, as well as ribbed butter knives and hammered cutlery.

A selection of plates and serving dishes were patterned with scale-like embossed elements, finished in porcelain and glass.

Textured glass was also used to create a series of wine glasses, champagne coupes and tumblers, as well as petite candle holders and amorphous vases for one or two stems.

Crisp white napkins and coasters and shiny napkin rings follow a similar design.

"Signature details inspired by Victoria Beckham's ready-to-wear and accessories collections, including elegant chain motifs and jewellery-inspired accents, lend the pieces a sense of sophistication, while subtle shell elements introduce a touch of playfulness," said Westwing.

The collection comes in bespoke green packaging that was conceived to reflect Beckham and Westwing's individual styles.

Partnerships between household designers and major brands have been in no short supply over the last few years.

Last December, designer Gustaf Westman created a selection of Christmas tableware for IKEA, while glassware brand Iittala released mugs, bowls and plates designed in collaboration with media company Pokémon in April.
