Xian tile by El Barco

Dezeen Showroom: Spanish tile brand El Barco draws a connection between the Mediterranean and ancient China with its Xian porcelain tiles, celebrating the enduring appeal of terracotta.
The Xian collection was created with reference to the Terracotta Warriors of Xi'an, the 2,000-year-old life-sized sculptures that protect the tomb of the first emperor of China.

Its cotto tiles come in three biscuity shades from pale to mid-brown, while three decor tile options – Han, Ming and Tao – feature tone-on-tone motifs that hover between east and west.
There is also a block tile option, with a two-by-two composition. All styles are suitable for both walls and floors.

El Barco describes the Xian tiles as "an unalterable and enduring terracotta, as authentic as the clay from which it is born".
El Barco is part of Tile of Spain, an association of over 100 tile manufacturers.
