"Forgive me if I'm wrong, but isn't the world on fire?" says commenter

In this week's comments update, readers are discussing a 37-metre-wide jumbo wave that formed the backdrop of Louis Vuitton's Spring Summer 2027 menswear show in Paris.
Designed by the fashion house's creative director, Pharrell Williams, the tidal wave was powered by water from Paris' aquatic network and took place at the Cité Internationale Universitaire de Paris.

"Great set for a show on a hot day"
"I clicked on the article expecting to read about a natural disaster," wrote Brian Williams. "I'm disappointed."
Following the same line of thought, commenter Henry asked, "Forgive me if I'm wrong, but isn't the world on fire?"
"This is the set design equivalent of Chevy Chase tossing his full canteen in front of thirsty Steve Martin and Martin Short in The Three Amigos," wrote Red Pill Junkie.
While some were shocked by the display, other commenters showed their appreciation.
"You have to admit it is an astonishingly stunning and dynamic backdrop," said Tom Roberts.
"Great set for a show on a hot day," Bunkermentality wrote in agreement. "Great effects, great lighting. Bravo."
"I mean, he didn't do a bad job with the set design, the water was returned, the benches were reused," said Okcool. "It's probably the most thoughtful that luxury brands have been."

"The Cybertruck of tracksuits"
Another fashion story garnering attention this week was the unveiling of designer Rick Owens' inflatable Adidas jogging suits at his Spring Summer 27 menswear show in Paris.
The opinion of the collection among Dezeen readers was divided, with some impressed by the designs.
"My instinct is to laugh, but I really like it and I've no idea why," wrote Chris.
"They're much like the cheap versions that Japanese workmen use," said Gelbe. "At least they now have a trendy version to buy."
Some weren't as appreciative, with Steve Hassler writing, "I feel if this was a real effort, they would be white instead of black to help with cooling."
"I'd rather melt," agreed Amie.
Other readers jumped at the chance to make jokes about the show.
"Rick's been planning for intergalactic travel for 30 years," said Design Junkie.
Sambo363 agreed, writing, "The Cybertruck of tracksuits, and so incredibly aerodynamic."
"Genius," said Friendlyneighborhoodsoandso. "Someone finally found a way to make Goth kids even sadder."

"They really are just going for the architectural carnival over there"
Though in a largely negative way, a story readers mainly agreed on was the reveal of a Dar al Funoon, a Frank Gehry-designed performing arts venue on Abu Dhabi's Saadiyat Island.
"Looks like a mass of clutter," wrote Name Changer. "Too chaotic and the rhythm is unpleasant."
Ray Fernandes agreed, saying, "Looks like the used tin foil I crumpled."
"I can't help thinking that the building looks a bit like plastic parcel wrappings about to start flapping in the wind," wrote Orlando1A1.
"Someone forgot his bed sheets on the clothes horse when drying," joked Pa Varreon. "The linen clips are missing."
"They really are just going for the architectural carnival over there," said Helvetica, referencing Saadiyat Island's slew of cultural projects.
"Why have such a venue in that climate?" asked JP.
