bandai turns tamagotchi into a wearable ring with color screen

Bandai shrinks the Tamagotchi into a ring-shaped device designed to be worn as an accessory. The Tamagotchi ring measures approximately 28 × 23 × 35 millimeters and places a color LCD screen inside a compact wearable form, allowing users to feed, care for, and play with the digital creature directly from their finger. The device is available in Japan in three color combinations: Pink & Pearl White, Light Blue & Metallic Gold, and Black & Metallic Silver. Bandai uses an aurora pearl finish for the pink version, while the other two models feature plated finishes.

Traditionally carried in a pocket, attached to a keychain, or suspended from a bag, the digital pet now occupies a more immediate position on the body. The format brings Tamagotchi closer to contemporary wearable technology, retaining the deliberately simple interaction that defined the original devices.

Despite its small scale, the Tamagotchi ring includes a color LCD display and supports the series’ familiar care and gameplay mechanics. Depending on how it is looked after, the digital creature can develop into more than 30 different Tamagotchi characters, with secret characters also appearing.

nostalgia meets the language of wearable technology

The ring is offered in sizes 10 and 14, with an included spacer allowing the fit to be adjusted. Each color also comes with a dedicated charger designed to display the device while it charges. A ball chain is included as well, suggesting that the object can move between ring and pendant-like accessory.

Bandai describes the Tamagotchi ring as the world’s smallest ring-shaped Tamagotchi device. Its LiPo battery is rechargeable through the included charger, while the compact body contains the screen and controls necessary for the familiar cycle of care.

The Tamagotchi ring tests what happens when a nostalgic digital object becomes wearable. Its appeal lies in this collision of scales: a tiny screen, a familiar virtual creature, and a piece of technology designed to remain attached to the hand.
