spacon shapes perforated aluminum curtain and vintage shoe box carpets for adidas copenhagen
SPACON designs installations for ADIDAS store in COPENHAGEN
Copenhagen-based architecture and design practice Spacon has developed two site-specific installations for the Adidas flagship store in Copenhagen. Intervening in two distinct retail zones, the fitting rooms and the Originals footwear area, the custom installations draw reference from the city’s urban running culture and the material archives of local sneaker collectors.

SINE-WAVE PERFORATED ALUMINUM CURTAIN screens FITTING ROOMS
In the fitting room area, Spacon Studio installed a perforated aluminum curtain formed into a continuous sine-wave profile. The corrugated metal surface is calibrated across three viewing distances using varying perforation densities to project three nested graphic motifs: an aerial satellite view of Copenhagen centered on its central lakes with a crosshair indicating the store’s coordinates, a silhouette of a runner mid-stride, and a close-up profile of an Adidas Adizero shoe. The undulating surface of the aluminum sheet reflects ambient retail lighting while translating local running topography into a kinetic metallic partition.

PHOTOGRAPHIC CARPETS INTEGRATE ARCHIVAL VINTAGE SHOE BOXES
In the Originals footwear section, the studio placed three oversized photographic carpets across the floor. The textile prints depict an expansive field of vintage Adidas shoe boxes shown in various states—sealed, open, and empty. Embedded within the photographic field are rare archival sneakers sourced directly from the private collections of local sneaker collectors Joachim Idestrup Friis and Alexander Cummings, turning regional footwear archives into large-format floor graphics.
