Dezeen Showroom: created by pioneering modernist architect and designer Lina Bo Bardi for her home in São Paulo, the Azul lounge chair has been reissued by furniture brand Paola Lenti.
Azul is a simple yet charming lounge chair created for Casa de Vidro, the home she designed for herself and her husband in São Paulo, Brazil, that now houses her foundation, the Instituto Lina Bo e PM Bardi.
Produced exclusively by Paola Lenti with approval from the foundation, the chair features a compact tubular metal frame with lines of textile belts supporting the seat and back cushions.
Designer Paola Lenti, founder of the eponymous brand, said she wanted to put the chair into production after it caught her eye in a photograph of the Casa de Vidro's grand living room, making an impression despite its small size.
"Its simplicity stood out, yet it harmonised beautifully with the surrounding artworks, antiques and the lush nature visible through the expansive windows," said Lenti.
The Azul chair is made in stainless steel with rope yarn for the belts. There is a wide choice of colours for both the structure and upholstery fabrics, which are suitable for indoors and out.
