Dezeen Showroom: three dramatic steel arches meet in this chandelier by AlexAllen Studio, described by the Brooklyn design firm as "both pared down and luxurious".

Cane Cluster serves as both a statement piece and a practical task light, with dimmable LED strips nestled into the curvature of each arm that cast a soft downward glow onto the desired surface.

The design borrows from the traditional visual language of a chandelier but reinterprets it through simple, minimalist forms, taking care to disguise seams and screws wherever possible.

This allows Cane Cluster to fit into both modern and time-honoured interiors such as the 1890s townhouse renovated by AlexAllen Studio in Crown Heights, where the product has found its first home.

Here, the chandelier was used to create a bridge between the home's original period features and the newly added cabinetry, blending old with new.

"The Cane Cluster complements both of these elements by mirroring traditional design themes but in a contemporary manner," explained founders Alexandra Burr and Allen Slamic.

"The result is a light that is both pared down and luxurious, minimal yet rich in tectonic details, striking a balance between restraint and grandeur."

The Cane Cluster is the newest addition to the Cane Collection by AlexAllen Studio, available in two sizes and eight finishes to suit different interiors, including various brass and nickel finishes as well as bronze, gunmetal and blackened steel.
