Dulux reveals sage green as Colour of the Year 2027

Paint brand Dulux has announced Soulful Sage – "a versatile green that provides a flexible foundation for schemes" – as its colour of the year for 2027.
Dulux selected the soft grey-green as its annual colour of the year as it is a calm shade that has clear connections to nature.
"Taking us straight back to nature, it's a calm, uplifting shade – just what's needed today," the brand said.

The selection is the result of research carried out throughout the year by the paint brand's parent company AkzoNobel. According to the brand, sage is a soothing and versatile colour, chosen as a response to the current feelings of global uncertainty.
"To deliver projects that add lasting value, architects, specifiers and designers must consider how colour can support the intended purpose of a space, its functionality and the experience of the people using it," said Dulux.
"AkzoNobel's annual ColourFutures research helps to inform this by translating emerging social and design trends into a practical colour direction that professionals can interpret and adapt for real projects."
"For 2027, the research identified a move towards lighter, more considered environments that respond to the information overload and wider global uncertainty that people are experiencing," the brand continued.
"These insights shaped Soulful Sage, a versatile green that provides a flexible foundation for schemes requiring different levels of warmth, neutrality or visual energy, depending on the brief."

Last year Dulux selected a trio of blue colours named Rhythm of Blues, as its Colour of the Year.
Rival colour arbiter Pantone, meanwhile, picked an understated, greyish white hue called Cloud Dancer.
