This week we highlighted the best of Milan design week

This week on Dezeen, our team was on the ground reporting on the most interesting installations, exhibitions and launches at Milan design week.
Highlights from the biggest week in the design calendar included a carousel decorated with oversized fruits (pictured above), a prefabricated Eames house, Aesop lamps and a pink labyrinth designed by Lebanese architect Lina Ghotmeh
We also looked at the stand-out installations at the first-ever Salone Raritas exhibition.

Also at Milan design week, Swedish furniture brand IKEA unveiled the first products from its latest PS Collection.
Along with a transforming lamp designed by Dutch designer Lex Pott, the brand released an inflatable chair.
It marks IKEA's first major return to air-filled furniture since the late 1990s.

This week, we also revealed photos showing progress on the Jeddah Tower in Saudi Arabia, which is set to become the world's tallest building. When complete, it will reach over 1,000 metres high.
We also spoke to one of the architects behind the skyscraper, Gordon Gill, who said "of all the projects in Saudi Arabia, this was the one capable of meeting its deadline".

In the UK, we reported that the gender pay gap had more than doubled at leading studio Zaha Hadid Architects.
While the official data from this year's UK gender pay reporting shows an increase at Zaha Hadid Architects, there was a slight improvement at other UK studios, including Foster + Partners and Allford Hall Monaghan Morris.

Also in the UK, British studio Foster + Partners revealed the final design for the Queen Elizabeth II memorial, which is set to be built near Buckingham Palace in London.
"The memorial reaches across all ages and interests and communicates the common values that Her Majesty promoted," said studio founder Norman Foster. "With a serene and contemplative atmosphere, there will be opportunities to rediscover, or perhaps for some to discover, the legacy of Her Majesty."

Popular projects on Dezeen this week included a restaurant in mud-coated shipping containers in India, an off-grid cabin on a tiny Tasmanian island and Kéré Architecture's compacted-earth Goethe-Institut in Dakar.
Listen to our journalists talk about the key design and architecture stories of the past seven days on our Dezeen Weekly podcast, which this week focused on the gender pay gap and Jeddah Tower.
