This week on Dezeen, we previewed Milan design week by highlighting the must-see installations and exhibitions taking place.

Looking ahead to the most significant week in the design calendar, we rounded up the 29 key events taking place across the city.

These included a mindfulness space by Zaha Hadid Architects, interior designer Kelly Wearstler's first furniture collection for H&M, a labyrinth designed by architect Lebanese architect Lina Ghotmeh and Milan's annual experimental design exhibition Alcova (pictured).

In the USA, plans to build the third-tallest building in New York progressed as the developers for the 175 Park Avenue submitted permits for the proposed 83-storey, supertall skyscraper.

Designed by SOM, the skyscraper in Midtown Manhattan is planned for a site directly alongside Grand Central Station.

We rounded up high-profile projects that famously stalled

Also, with the news that construction of the White House ballroom has been halted by a judge, we looked at other high-profile projects that were famously stalled.

These included a succession of ambitious skyscrapers in Jeddah, Chicago, Dubai, Caracas and Bangkok.

In other architecture news, researchers at technology university ETH Zurich and research institute Empa announced they had created a fireproof building material from sawdust.

According to the team, the lightweight material could be used as an alternative to cement-bonded particleboards for internal walls.

Popular projects on Dezeen this week included a house with a glass-brick extension, a maze with "coloured walls of shade" by Sabine Marcelis and a suite aboard the world's "largest private residential yacht".
