RECYCLED ELEMENTS AND BOLD CONTRASTS SHAPE THE INTERIOR
Architecture and design studio KORNWORKS completes the second interior for VesnaFlowers, a flower shop chain in Moscow. Located in Denezhny Lane, the project develops the visual language established for the brand’s first store while responding to the specific proportions, budget, and character of the new site.
Rather than applying the same design to every location, designers Anna Kornishina and Petr Kornishin from KORNWORKS approach each shop as an individual space within a shared identity. Here, sections of the existing wall finish are preserved, allowing traces of the former interior to contrast with the project’s brighter colors and newly introduced forms.

AN OPEN PLAN TURNS FLORISTRY INTO A PERFORMANCE
KORNWORKS studio organizes the shop as an open-plan interior where customers and florists move through the same continuous space. The florist’s counter is positioned prominently near the entrance, turning the preparation of bouquets into a visible part of the experience.
The bright worktop functions almost like a stage, allowing people inside the shop — as well as passers-by — to observe the process of selecting, arranging, and wrapping flowers. The refrigerated display is placed further inside, becoming the final point along the visitor’s route.

A BLUE FOAM CEILING by KORNWORKS EVOKES THE SPRING SKY
The interior draws on the moment when winter begins to recede and the first flowers appear. Its most distinctive element is a textured blue ceiling made from foam, conceived as an abstract spring sky above the bouquets and floral displays.
The material brings depth and movement to the otherwise compact interior, while its saturated color creates a strong visual counterpoint to the rough, partially exposed walls. This contrast between old surfaces and bold new elements also helped the studio work within the project’s limited material budget.

RECYCLED PLASTIC FURNITURE DEFINES THE WAITING AREA
Beside the window, a small waiting zone is furnished with colorful chairs and a coffee table made from recycled plastic. From here, customers can look towards the Ministry of Foreign Affairs skyscraper and the surrounding buildings of Denezhny Lane.
The furniture and decorative objects continue the interior’s playful palette, while the open arrangement keeps the shop visually connected from front to back. Through color, reused surfaces, and a flexible layout, VesnaFlowers presents floristry as both a retail function and a public-facing performance.
