GEBERIT RAISES DESIGN DIALOGUES AT ITS EXPERIENCE CENTER

Some products are shaped by trends, but when a bathroom renovation happens, on average, once in every two decades, trends fall short. Geberit takes the lead in the opposite direction when it comes to bathroom design. Instead, the European sanitary manufacturer factors foresight, substance, and a deep understanding of water, materials, and function into their design process. To reflect this perception, Geberit Experience Center opened right in the heart of Milan’s design scene – the Tortona District – during Milan Design Week 2026.

Within this permanent space, Geberit focuses on its core competence, the expertise of Mastering Water, with an installation-and-showroom to engage the international community, raising dialogues and exchanges between design, architecture, and technology.

‘MASTERING WATER’ DEEPENS THE UNDERSTANDING OF SANITARY DESIGN

For decades, the European sanitary manufacturer has dedicated itself to developing designs that optimize the use of water throughout its entire journey within a building. For Christoph Behling, Geberit’s Head of Design, ‘Water is the blue thread that connects people, products, and architecture.’ Alongside his role at the company, Behling has years of know-how in designing Swiss high-end watches for TAG Heuer. To express his perspective on sanitary design, through a comparison with watches’ design process, Christoph Behling says Design does not begin at the surface, but on the inside.’ Material properties, technical processes, and everyday use come first, such as for bathroom design. This holistic system reinforces the rare inside-out approach that defines Geberit’s true quality design, which does not come and go with trends, but withstands the test of time.

800 METERS OF A PERMANENT INSTALLATION FOR TANGIBLE EXPERIENCE

Across 800 square meters, the Geberit Experience Center is divided by interconnected zones where bathroom design can be lived and comprehended in all its aspects. The space, designed by Ippolito Fleitz Group, opened during Milan Design Week 2026 and stays as a permanent venue to strengthen the brand’s connection with the international design community through exchange and learning.

Inside, the guiding theme ‘Mastering Water’ makes the relationship between water management, technology and design tangible through real bathroom settings and interactive stations of sanitary products. The Mastering Water Tower sits at its heart showing precisely where Geberit’s core competence comes into play. Cascading through a network of pipes, the Tower clearly presents the brand’s deep understanding of water flow, influencing the designs both behind the wall and in front of it.

As visitors continue to explore the Center, shapes, products, and technology – typically hidden behind the walls – become visible and are understood, including the designs of toilets, washbasins, and showers. Meanwhile, hydraulics, flow, and functionality are  considered down to the smallest detail, such as ceramic products, flush plates, and shower toilets. The space highlights the knowledge that deepens with Geberit’s concept of ‘Mastering Water’ when faced as a main condition to create substantial design.
